180 Degrees Consulting, Improving the Effectiveness of Non Profit and Social Enterprises Around the World

AMAURY HOYMANS (FORMER MARKETING & COMMUNICATION DIRECTOR)

How was your approach to 180 Degrees Consulting?

“180 Degrees Consulting gave me the opportunity to learn more and experience working in a sector of the economy that I didn’t really know: the so-called fourth sector, or social economy. It is a whole part of the economy that is still widely unknown, yet thousands of businesses and entrepreneurs work everyday to make this social dream come true. In recent years, the line between public, private and social sectors have been blurring, allowing for the emergence of a fourth sector based on the blending of social goals with a business and for-profit approach to create “for-benefit organizations”.  180 Degrees Consulting Bocconi works with a lot of these for-profit social businesses and it has been a truly enriching experience for me to help their ideas grow.

Furthermore, 180 Degrees Consulting Bocconi is a student consultancy association, allowing Bocconi students to use their skills at best to have a true social impact. I believe in helping others in the most efficient way, therefore I makes complete sense for students to use their problem-solving and analytical skills to improve the activities of social organizations”.

What is your role in the association and what are your tasks?

I entered the association in September 2015 and was elected Marketing & Communications Director after a semester, thus also becoming a member of the Board of 180 Degrees Consulting Bocconi. On top of making decision on the core activities of the association as part of the Board, my main goal was to promote the association through our community and raising awareness around our activities by the same token. Our external communication mainly takes place online through our Facebook and Twitter pages as well as our website. Moreover, we promote our activities in Bocconi through internal events and regular recruitments. But this semester, my main task was to develop a brand new website for the association, which will be live in the coming weeks”.
